Chippewa Valley Imagine

Chippewa Valley Imagine! (formerly Chippewa Valley Odyssey of the Mind) is a district wide program that participates in the international creative problem solving competition sponsored by Destination ImagiNation ( ). We are also affiliated with the Michigan Creativity Association ( ). Although many schools limit membership to their gifted and talented students, CVI! participation is open to all. Volunteer parent coaches guide groups of up to 7 as they solve a challenge and present it at competition. The parent information meeting date and time has not been set yet. Stay tuned for further updates and information.

Science Olympiad

The Iroquois Science Olympiad team is on a roll! For the past several years, they have excelled at the county competition and often made it to Michigan State for the state tournament.

Our team of 15 students, 3 alternates and numerous parent volunteers has worked diligently researching, designing, constructing, testing and re-evaluating models and topics for science related events. They practice twice a week after school for months in advance. They work as a team, motivating and assisting one another.

This year, we have several openings on our team due to former 8th graders moving on to the high school. We begin try-outs in October. We are in need of dedicated participants who are strong in science, motivated learners and team oriented.

If you are interested, please contact Ms. Jiggens via email . Messages may also be left at the school office.

Student Council

We are very proud of the many events and activities sponsored by our Student Council. This year, we plan to include Community Service Field Trips and Reward Field Trips for our members. Please click on any of the above links to learn more about this year's members, activities, and events.

School dances are an opportunity for students to enjoy the friendship of their peers and dance to their favorite tunes. Last year, Student Council sponsored four dances for the student body at attend.

Pennies for Patients:

Last year, we raised almost $10,000 for the treatment and care of cancer patients for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society.
Classrooms can start collecting for Pennies for Patients in April! Parents and community members can donate on-line and at participating Coin Star locations! Please send the Coin Star receipts to school with your student so that the amount counts towards their class totals! The number one class will win lunch from Olive Garden! Classes that raise over 300 dollars, will earn bagels or donuts for their class!

Canned Food Drive:

This year we collected over 8,000 cans and were able to help the Kiwanis Club provide food for over 700 needy families in our area! Way to go Panthers!

Flower Gardens:

Student Council purchased and planted perennials in effort to contribute to school beautification.

Iroquois Middle School's yearbook preparation for the 2012-2013 school year will begin at the end of September.

This year's yearbook will be in full color with a hard cover detailing all the major events of the school year! Also, the price for the yearbook will be just $20 - to make it more affordable for everyone. But make sure your order your copy of the yearbook before March 1, 2013; after that date you will not be able to purchase a yearbook as you have in the past.

If you are a student at Iroquois and would like to apply to be a yearbook representative, please see Mrs. Zombo, Yearbook Coordinator, in the main office. Nine students will be selected - three from each grade - according to absences and citizenship history.

So, if you like to take lots of pictures and can meet after school  on a few Thursdays (from 2:45pm - 3:45pm once in October and 4 times in January), please consider applying to be on this team.
