Important
Information for the Chippewa Valley School District on MRSA
Recently,
the media has been reporting stories about Methicillin-resistant
Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) a type of staph bacteria causing
serious skin infections in school-aged children here in Michigan and
across the country. This infection is resistant to certain
antibiotics and may produce a wide-range of symptoms. As a precaution all locker rooms and shower rooms at the
middle school and high school level are receiving additional
disinfectant cleaning with solutions designed to eliminate the
bacteria responsible for the MRSA infection. At the elementary
level, disinfectant products effective in killing the MRSA bacteria
are used to clean restrooms on a daily basis. In addition, we
would like to provide the following information from the Michigan
Department
of Community Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
